About gigfees
gigfees answers one question: after the marketplace fee, the withdrawal fee, currency conversion and tax, how much of a freelance job actually reaches your bank account?
Who it is for
Freelancers who sell on Upwork, Fiverr or Freelancer.com (or through a vetted talent network) and get paid out via PayPal, Payoneer or Wise. It is most useful when you are pricing a job, comparing platforms, or checking why the amount that arrived is lower than the rate you agreed. The what to charge page works the other way round: start from the take-home you need and get the price to quote.
Where the numbers come from
Every fee on this site is read from the platform’s or payment provider’s own help or pricing page, not from blogs or forum posts. Each number is stored with the link it came from and the date that page was last checked, and the calculators show both next to the result. When a fee is not published anywhere official (for example, Upwork only says PayPal and Payoneer withdrawals cost “a small fee”), it is labelled Unverifiedand you can type your own figure instead.
Fees change. When a platform updates its pricing, the number, its source link and its check date are updated together. If you spot a fee that has changed, please tell us; it is the most useful message we get.
| Who | Fee | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Upwork | Fee = your rate × the contract’s service fee % (0–15%, shown on every offer and proposal). Net = rate − fee. | official page, checked 14 Oct 2026 |
| Fiverr | Fee = 20% of the order price (incl. extras and tips). Net = 80% of the order. | official page, checked 14 Oct 2026 |
| Freelancer.com | Fixed-price: fee = the greater of 10% or $5.00. Hourly: fee = 10% of each payment. Net = amount − fee. | official page, checked 14 Oct 2026 |
| Talent network (vetted, client-billed) | The network bills the client its own price and keeps a margin. Your pay = client price × (1 − margin %). | Unverified Vetted talent networks do not publish their margin. 30% is an example, not a published rate. Ask the network or compare your agreed rate with the client price. |
| PayPal | Standard bank withdrawal: free without currency conversion. Converting your balance: 3.00% spread above the base exchange rate. | official page, checked 14 Oct 2026 |
| Payoneer | Marketplace payments in: varies by marketplace. To your bank in the same currency: $1.50. With currency conversion: 1.2%–4% depending on corridor. | official page, checked 14 Oct 2026 |
| Wise | Receiving USD by ACH to your account details: free (USD wire: $6.11). Converting: from 0.52%, varies by currency. | official page, checked 14 Oct 2026 |
How the calculators work
The maths runs in your browser. Amounts are worked out in whole cents and rounded the way the platforms describe, so a 10% Upwork fee on $266.64 is $26.66, not $26.664. Each calculator page shows its formula so you can check it by hand. Nothing you type is sent anywhere; see the privacy policy.
What gigfees is not
- Not affiliated with Upwork, Fiverr, Freelancer.com, PayPal, Payoneer, Wise or any talent network. Their names are used only to describe their published fees.
- Not financial, tax or legal advice. The tax field is a single percentage you choose; it does not know your country’s rules, thresholds or deductions.
- Not a guarantee. Results are estimates. Your platform statement and your payment provider’s quote at the time of withdrawal are the final word. See the terms and disclaimer.
